The Starship Roxbury has two bedrooms - one on each floor; and two bathrooms – one with a 2-person 85-gallon soaking tub with dual showerheads and another with a two-person walk-in shower. The challenge was to create a ceiling that makes the entire suite feel as if it is moving through space like a starship. We must say the end result, especially at night, is uncanny. Note that all the walls in this suite are bolted together by steelogramasaphoncrylate – a Vulcan substance that binds metals together and keeps them from tearing apart when the starship is in warp drive. The thing above the toilet is a hydrotransgorpholator. It collects moisture from space and converts it into the usable, purified water supply for the bathroom. The coffee station area is made of glow-in-the-dark tile. It was not easy to photograph, but this gives you the idea of what it looks like at night. This effect at night, when combined with the moving starship ceiling, is like far…. out….. man…..! They’re actually quite happy there. They hang there in front of the TV which they think is a distant solar system that they’re having trouble reaching. Starfleet Command gave us strict instructions to not reveal the hidden message to the Intergalactic Court of Justice represented by the placement of the glow-in-the-dark tile in the room!
