 Right outside the windows surrounding the hot tub is an old weeping apple tree. We fought with the contractors to keep the tree and thank goodness we won the battle. The tree is full of birds in the summer and provides naturally soothing music for you to enjoy while you soak. Beyond the tree is the back yard gazebo with lounge chairs in case you want to lie in the sun after a treatment. Remember to bring your bathing suit. Our little spa is co-ed. And it's only $20 per person per stay (not per day like most resorts).Just because it's off season and the back gardens are not in full bloom or blanketed with sparkling snow, that doesn't mean you won't have anything to look at in The Shimmer Spa. We provided a fireplace to help hypnotize away your worries. And that's not a disco ball dangling from the ceiling, it's a perfectly spherical crystal chandelier made from hundreds of Swarovski crystals. And, yes, it's on a dimmer switch in case you have the spa all to yourself...Thousands of black iridescent mosaic tiles surround the fireplace in the center of the room. It's called 'shimmerfly' tile and it was our inspiration for the spa's name.This photo gives you a sneak peek of the treatment room behind the curtain to the left, the dry Finish sauna in the center, and the shower and changing area to the far right. Yes, it's just a curtain that separates the treatment room from the main room, but it's a black-out curtain so there is plenty of privacy. You might hear some noise from the hot tub during your treatment, but to date our guests have been respectful when they see the shut curtain. If they are not, then we'll tell them to put a lid on it!The shower is made of black river rock that we extended out from the shower into the changing area. Like clouds, people are seeing shapes in the wall creations. If you look to the left, you'll see what some are calling a 'dragon' while others are seeing Marmaduke, the comic strip dog... And oh my lordy does that river rock feel good on your feet!Sweat all your cares away. Just sweat it right out of you in our sauna. Sweat and sweat and sweat until you're born again. Rebirth. Renewal. Rejuvenation.The bathroom area in The Shimmer Spa comes fully equipped with an assortment of toiletry needs, e.g. razors, shaving cream, deoderant, lotion, cotton balls, mouthwash, blow dryer, and more. Does your spouse take forever to get dressed for dinner? Then come use the facilities at The Shimmer Spa so you have your own space for optimal primping.
